The Pancoast family moved to San Antonio in 1853. In 1863, Aaron Cooper Pancoast (1811–1894) relocated to the King William Neighborhood, acquiring land for a cow and chickens. His son, A.C. Pancoast Jr. (1865–1953), became a civil engineer and served as San Antonio’s City Engineer and County Engineer for Bexar County, mapping Broadway along a flood-safe contour line. A.C. later acquired properties around San Antonio, teaching his grandson, Charlie Noble, the value of real estate, inspiring Charlie’s career as a respected real estate appraiser.
